SUSTAINABILITY BALANCE SHEET 2007

Varvel SpA presented its first Sustainability Balance Sheet at the Unindustria official seat in Bologna on Thursday the 20th November, 2008

Varvel strives - with the drawing up and presentation of this document - to become stimulus and example as a socially responsible company, centred on people and never forgiving that companies are not made of mere capital.

The document is a comprehensive evaluation of social impacts on all the management processes; important tool of shared financial statement, transparency protection and internal and international comparison.

From the disabled plan with the Province of Bologna and the 'Noah's Ark' social cooperative, to the many sponsorships in the territory (the Crespellano Fair and various sports clubs linked to company's staff), to fair trade purchasing, to the financial support of local and regional educational centres (universities and colleges), the Varvel social commitment is stressed by continued donations of 2 Eurocents for every product invoiced to each one of three non-profit associations - UNICEF, Doctors Without Borders and ANT (Cancer National Association) - for a global annual donation of Euro 19,000 in 2007 totalling over Euro 73,000 from 2004 (project start-up) to the first half of 2008.

This way, by a fixed amount for every sold product, Varvel seeked creating a real link between what the company does and what the company donates.

Therefore, the Varvel Sustainability Balance Sheet places itself as a company commitment evidence in production, industrial safety and regional and social investments.

Transparency, communication and open commitment answer globalization to break the cliché that companies are inattentive, polluters and do not safeguard all the ambient realities whether active or involved.
