SEPTEMBER 2011: Varvel presents its fourth Sustainability Balance Sheet
We have now come to the fourth edition of our Sustainability Balance, an important goal for a medium sized enterprise like we are.
The year 2010 revealed a turbulent recovery with a 44% turnover increase that achieved our outcome nearly 10% from the 2007 peak.
Even operating results became positive again this unexpected recovery led to a production congestion with consequent lead time expansion and customer service deterioration.
Also the growth, still continuing during these first six months of 2011, does not allow the production equipment to keep abreast of market demand; this Achilles' heel we decided to deal with.
Besides the investments in production expansion, of which the effects are expected from next year only, we decided to embark on a business management project embracing the LEAN THINKING attitude.
